All the news that’ll fit on the small screen.

We are now within that desolate time period known as January, when there aren’t any parties, there isn’t any holiday cheer, and there aren’t even any new TV shows to distract you from how bored you are.  Seems like every TV show took a hiatus just before DCRH and won’t be back until the first week in February.  Which is coincidentally sweeps month.  I understand why they do it, but it doesn’t make me like it.  Of course, since Dice and I were already a couple weeks behind, and then we went away for two weeks, we’re still watching new episodes of most shows.  Except every show ends with, “[TV show name] will be back in the new year, watch for exciting new episodes in February.”  All I can say is that if I’d been watching that in mid-December I’d be so PISSED about a two month wait.  As it is, I’m still pissed about a three week wait.

In other TV news (okay, this is old news, but as I mentioned I’m behind the times) Pushing Daisies has been canceled and the mastermind behind it, Bryan Fuller, is going back to his old show, Heroes.  I wasn’t crazy about Pushing Daisies, although I loved the snappy banter, and I did think that this season the storyline was getting better, but the show just had so many problems it’s not surprising it didn’t last longer.  Now Heroes, on the other hand, used to be so good, and this season has been sucking royally.  I hear tell that Fuller was the one who wrote the best episodes in Season 1.  If you remember Season 1 (and I do) there were several very good episodes, then the middle of the season dragged, and then if got good again.  Let’s hope Fuller is able to pull Heroes out of the cesspool it’s sunk into this season.

Another show I’m really enjoying these days is Life.  I liked it last season, but this season I’m much more drawn to it.  It’s partly the main character, partly how the on-going investigation creates a link from one episode to the next, and partly the cool music.  I’m drawn in.  I want to find out what happens.  I’m not completely sold on Donal Logue’s character, but I like Donal Logue so much I’m willing to ride it out.  Now if only I could ride Det. Crews out.  ‘Cause I’d ride that train as far as it would take me.
